All you guys complaining about not having a pet despite having old accounts are fighting a lost cause. Did you miss the Canthan New Year? They litterally handed them out like candy. You can buy one for like 2k (a price even I can afford). I know its not the coolest thing ever, but hell its still a mini pet.

2 years = another pet thats it.
Deal with it.

EDIT: Forgot to say something about 2 year characters. XD Anyway what I was going to say was whoop dee doo your character is 2 years old. Maybe spawn a cookie in your inventory along with a minipet? Honestly does anyone play their older characters? I rerolled too, but I still have one 16 month character. Hes just a mule now, so why should we reward people for sitting on mules?

Exactly! Why reward mules? I'll bet that a ton of PvP folks tried their hand at PvE and didnt like it, maybe they kept 1 PvE character, Possibly 2 that just sit there and rot on their account, and in the mean time they reroll PvP characters over and over on a daily basis. These people still get PvE rewards and they dont even play PvE anymore. So what do they do with their birthday presents? Maybe something like an aura that represents your age and you could turn it on or off at will. The folks that have mules they dont use could possibly still get presents, but theirs wouldnt be as cool as someones that actively plays their character and completes quests and missions (I would include experience and time spent in the game, but thats difficult because of farmers and afkers. The titles are great and all, but you cant see those titles when your in a PUG or when your in PvP, you can only show them off in town. Plus you can only see those title if you put your cursor over the character, or maybe Alt/ctrl to view the titles. Its a lot of work for titles, yet they kinda go unnoticed. If you had a cool aura that you could keep on you all the time if you wanted it would make more sense because it would represent the age and time invested in your character.

The aura could be blue, or it could be a rainbow of colors kinda like in Tae Kwon Do:

1st year: white
2nd year: orange
3rd year: yellow
4th year: green
5th year: blue
6th year: red
7th year: black
etc

Or if its just a blue aura, it could get stronger/fuller/brighter with each passing year, thus representing the age and wisdom of you character.

Just a thought.

Why reward people at the Canthan newyear event with something that was originally for birthdays only? Not everything in the game needs to be a giveaway to everyone.

It's silly. Do you find it unfair that some people get minis that are worth 100k +ec ? Doesn't sound fair to me. I have a character that will be turning 2 soon (that I still use thank you) and I've received several mini pets, none are gold. So what? You can't please all people all the time.

You may have forsaken your older characters, but that doesn't mean everyone has. I for one don't have any mules. I created my warr the day Prophecies went live, then my necro and ranger about two months later, then my sin during the Factions preorder headstart, and finally my Dervish the day Nightfall went live. I play all my characters regularly and take each one through every campaigns. I agree it does seem kind of rediculous to suggest or even demand what your own present will be, but Anet still appreciates those with older characters. I'm sure whatever the present is; it'll be cool.

I'm planning on keeping my Tank, Mesmer, Ele, and Necro well over 3rd or 4th birthday. As for rest of my characters, I might delete some and try out new things.

Its kinda silly that I signed up the same day that "average joe gamer" did, yet he gets a pet because his character is still there after 1 year. And I get nothing because I started new characters to change names/faces/genders. My account is just as old as "average joe gamer" and I've dedicated just as much time with more than 2500 hours logged, yet I get squat.

yes!!! make them have and additional 5-10 slots or maybe even like (e.g. burning titan gives all fire magic skills +1 attribute or dmg and varesh +1 for scythe attribute or dmg or like mini rurik with warriors, etc.
i like the auto pick up too because i hate having to run back to get items

Allow me momentarily to throw the connection to 2nd birthdays out of the window and say that if they sold such a thing... I would spend ALL my money on them.

you get say one cap sig except it catches enemies. you would put it in your skills list and go out to an area target enemy of choice and use the skill auto matically you get a mini pet of that enemy in your inventory. of course ppl may complain about wanting all of the mini pets andthere would be too many pets to make but it would be cool to have any mini you want. you shouldnt be able to use it on bosses tho because of the colored aura they have on their armor. it could probably work for NPCs too. like have a mini master togo or mini xunlai agent.
i would get a mini.... ummm what r they called. its the god,s servants or whatever that pop up when u kneel to a shrine or i would get a mini rabbit or thats also a way to get the mini panda

The 8 ppl that have the highest scores in the predictions of the Celestial Tournament, recieve a PERMANENT transmo-potion. Maybe this is the 2nd birthday-pressie we are going to get. I think giving more minipets would be a mistake and Anet knows that. Minipets already flood the market.
